WHAT IS PIP?

Personal injury protection insurance covers medical expenses for those injured in auto accidents. PIP coverage is automatically included in all auto insurance policies for Portland Oregon residents. Passengers injured in a collision are also covered by the driver’s insurance.

Regardless of which driver was at fault, the medical expenses for the policyholder and others in the policyholder’s car will be covered by insurance. While PIP insurance provides immediate benefits to injured people in your vehicle, collecting from your PIP policy does not limit anyone’s right to sue the at-fault driver for damages. Using your personal injury protection does not impact your insurance coverage or rates.
